ESTERO – A couple from Michigan opened the first cider and wine tasting room and store at Miromar outlets.

Dubbed RAD (Really Awesome Drinks), the location will offer all five of the current RAD products on tap, according to a statement. This includes fruity, sparkling, and mouthwatering drinks for those who don’t normally drink wine. Additionally, the tasting room will contain a selection of wines from Gravity Winery and Red Top Winery, all grown in the vineyards of owner Rockie Rick’s Michigan. Classics include Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Bordeaux, along with unique wines like Bourbon Barrel Aged Merlot and Chocolate Cherry Port, the release said. The store will also offer canned wines and ciders.

“My wife Allison and I are very happy to open RAD Winery & Cidery,” Rick said in the release. “We pride ourselves on making exceptional products from our Michigan vineyards, such as our bold and robust Bourbon Barrel Aged Merlot, Classic Pinot Gris and our mouthwatering Chocolate Cherry Port. “

Rockie Rick grew up in the 1980s on the family-owned fruit farm in southwest Michigan. Shortly after the couple’s wedding, the statement said, they purchased a 10-acre peach orchard. Gravity Winery opened to the public in 2011 and over the next five years has grown rapidly, planting more vineyards and increasing wine production. “As the closely related microbrewery industry flourished, the couple realized a vacuum between traditional wine and the microbrewery industry,” the statement said.

They filled that void in 2020 with RAD, what they call “boldly different styles of wine and cider”.

Frequent visitors to Southwest Florida, the Ricks landed on Miromar Outlets as the site of their new retail store due to the center’s popularity with tourists and local visitors, the statement said. RAD Winery & Cidery is located in suite 172, across from Nike the Factory Store.

Miromar Outlets is located at exit 123 from I-75 on Miromar Outlets Boulevard in Estero between Naples and Fort Myers.
