Students from the University of Chester will organize a fundraising wine tasting evening

Students from the UNIVERSITY of Chester hosted a wine tasting evening to raise money for a charity providing vital support to the town.

The three second-year event management students, Amelia Gill, Eadaoin McQuillan and Bliss Richens, planned the fundraising event for Chester Aid to the Homeless on Saturday February 19.

Supported by Chester Beer and Wine, the wine tasting evening runs from 7-9pm at its Handbridge shop.

Amelia said: “Chester Aid to the Homeless (CATH) is a long-established homeless charity in the town, offering a wide range of services. It does crucial work, providing support, encouragement and a safety net to homeless people in crisis, in Chester and the surrounding area.

“When we formed our team, ABE Events, and started planning our event as part of our course, Chester Aid to the Homeless immediately came to mind as the charity we wanted to support.”

She added: “We are really looking forward to organizing the event. Come join us for a fantastic evening of wine tasting, good company and fundraising.

The event was kindly sponsored by CSM Security Ltd who provide security services in North Wales and the North West.

Sam Jackson of Chester Beer and Wine said: “I am always happy to offer our services to organize fundraising events because a local business is supported by their local community.

“We have supported many good causes over the years, and it is an absolute pleasure to work with the students of the University of Chester on this project in support of Chester Aid to the Homeless.”

Tickets for the Viva La Vino event are priced at £20 plus booking fee, and can be purchased at, all proceeds being donated to Chester Homeless Aid.
