Take part in an exclusive Vinotheque wine tasting in De Grendel’s cellar

Brush up on your wine tasting skills by attending an exclusive wine tasting session at De Grendel winery. With a long history of winemaking and an award-winning winemaker, De Grendel is, without a doubt, one of the best places to learn or hone your skills.

About De Grendel Wine Estate

De Grendel Winery stands majestically on the fynbos-covered slopes of the Tygerberg with postcard-worthy views of Table Mountain and Cape Town. It has been producing wine since 2005, when longtime wine student Charles Hopkins joined the team. In November 2019, Hopkins achieved a major milestone, with the awarding of its first five-star rating in Platter’s South African Wine Guide, for De Grendel’s Elim Shiraz 2017.

De Grendel harvests and blends wines from two main vineyards – Tygerberg and Witzenberg – to create their award-winning wines. Tygerberg’s cooler summer climate, combined with a combination of blue shale, glen rosa and oak leaf soils, is perfect for growing Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot. The Witzenberg mountains, nearly a mile above sea level, are the perfect cold climate to allow the grapes to hang longer – perfect for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
