Wine tasting – My New Orleans

Copper Vine now presents a creative collaboration between Sommelier Lydia Kurkoski and Executive Chef Amy Mehrtens with new wine tasting experiences. Presenting a unique combination of food and wine, and specially designed for each guest, the 13 new tasting themes (such as Spanish reds or California pinot noir) span the spectrum of varietal offerings. Private wine tastings (with a minimum of four guests) include organized wine flights and thoughtfully paired bites. One of Copper Vine’s wine experts guides customers through the vineyards, varietal characteristics and innovative cellar practices surrounding some of the world’s finest wines. Meanwhile, private wine dinners (for groups of eight to 50 people) feature a personalized menu with carefully chosen food and wine pairings. Kurkoski organizes the experience to match the tastes and preferences of the group, while showcasing unique and interesting wines. 1001, rue Poydras, 208-9535,

Celebrity tequila

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has released the ultra-premium Tequila Teremana in small batches, now available in Louisiana. Made on the highest peaks of the Jalisco Highlands, tequila comes in two expressions: a blanco and a reposado. The name Teremana translates directly to “spirit of the earth”, from the Latin word “terra”, which means earth, and from the Polynesian word “mana”, which means spirit. Teremana tequila is made from fully ripe, naturally sweet agave, slowly roasted in traditional brick ovens and distilled in handmade copper stills.

Specialty cocktail

The Peacock Room, the gorgeous new cocktail bar located inside the Kimpton Hotel Fontenot in the Central Business District, released a specialty cocktail this summer and added it to the lounge’s regular menu. The “Flock to Me” cocktail (based on Vodka Cathead, Cocci Rosso, watermelon syrup, falernum spirulina and butterfly pea flower tincture) is just as pretty as the living room environment, thanks to its gradient from purple to white. and blue. 501 rue Tchoupitoulas, 571-1818,

Grand Prize

Brennan’s restaurant, which first received the coveted Grand Award “Wine Spectator” in 1983, was once again presented with the award on its 75th anniversary in 2021. Brennan’s wine list, carefully crafted by the sommelier and Wine Director Braithe Tidwell, with guidance and support from the owners, now has over 14,000 bottles. Over the past few years, Brennan’s has spent nearly $ 1 million on wines, halving the total number of selections on the list, with special attention to boutique producers, verticals and large formats. Brennan’s wine cellar has a fine range of top-notch Californian wines, but its greatest strength lies in its exceptional Bourgognes and nearly 100 champagne offerings. 417, rue Royale, 525-9711,

Botanical vodkas

Finlandia Vodka has released two new expressions based on real herbs and natural fruit flavors, and both contain only 30 percent alcohol by volume. Finlandia Botanical infusions are presented in the classic Finlandia bottle inspired by fresh glacier water in two flavors: cucumber and mint and wild berry and rose. Combining the versatility of vodka with the craftsmanship of botanical infusions in a smaller ABV format, these two new offerings meet the growing demand for mindful sipping at casual gatherings. They don’t have artificial flavors or sweeteners; they only contain 73 calories per serving; and they have just been released in Louisiana before a larger national deployment. They serve as the perfect base for simple cocktails and are best enjoyed simply mixed with sparkling water, tonic or lemonade.
